Stock photography contest between a “rock and a hard place.”
We list many of our photographs for sale on Dreamstime. It is a stock photography website. During the month of April Dreamstime announced a new assignment for photographers. It is called “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” It is a photography contest where you can submit your photos depicting, “difficult situations, tough choices, dilemmas, we’ve all been there at some point in our lives.” This is the first photo contest we decided to participate in. I think it is a good idea to participate in these types of contests. There are three prizes. First place $300, second place $200, and third place $100. Sign up now!
Reasons to participate in a stock photography contest
- It forces you to look around to find the perfect shot based on the criteria.
- It makes you look at the work of other photographers to inspire your creativity.
- You might win the prize. Many times it is money.
- You get to feature your photos. Other people will start looking at your portfolio.
- If you win, your work gets featured and it will get shared online. Publicity!
Our stock photography photo shoot for this assignment
We travel in our motor home. After we read about this assignment we spent several hours bouncing ideas back and forth about how to capture the perfect images to submit for this contest. The idea did not come to up immediately. However, the idea did appear to us as we rounded a corner of the highway in Utah. We looked to our right and saw an incredible backdrop for a photo shoot. There were cliffs that had pockets of holes scattered throughout them. I kept looking at the holes and what we could use them for in a photo shoot. After submitting 7 other photos they accepted this one for the assignment.
